7 Days Kilimanjaro Machame Route

Day 2 will see you leaving Machame Camp and heading towards Shira Camp. This part of the itinerary spans a distance of 5.3 kilometers or 3 miles and typically takes around 4-5 hours to complete. As you ascend, you'll transition from the rainforest to the moorland, experiencing a change in scenery along the way.

On Day 3, you'll continue your journey from Shira Camp to Barranco Camp. This stretch covers a distance of 10.75 kilometers or 6 miles and takes approximately 5-6 hours to complete. As you traverse through the semi-desert terrain, you'll encounter the iconic Lava Tower before reaching your destination at Barranco Camp.

Day 4 involves hiking from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp. This leg of the tour spans a distance of 5.2 kilometers or 3 miles and typically takes around 3-4 hours to complete. As you make your way through the alpine desert, you'll be treated to breathtaking views and unique landscapes.

The fifth day of your tour will take you from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp. This section covers a distance of 3.3 kilometers or 2 miles and usually takes around 3-4 hours to complete. As you continue through the alpine desert, you'll be getting closer to your ultimate goal of reaching the summit.

Day 6 is the most challenging part of the itinerary as you embark on the final push towards the summit. Starting from Barafu Camp, you'll ascend a distance of 4.86 kilometers or 3 miles, which typically takes 5-7 hours. After reaching the summit, you'll descend to Mweka Camp, covering a distance of 11.5 kilometers or 7.2 miles in approximately 5-6 hours. This leg of the journey offers stunning views of glaciers and a snow-capped summit.

On the last day of your tour, you'll trek from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate before heading back to Moshi.
